Why should i clean my rainwater tank?

Your rainwater tanks should also be cleaned at least once every 2 years as contamination, dust, insects, rodents, leaves sinks to the bottom of the tank and creates a poisonous sludge. This is more common with exisiting tanks on a premises due to lessor technologies being used when it was installed. It is not uncommon for a rodent to crawl down the pipe into the water tanks and drown if they can get through any kind of gap. This kind of  unfortunate circumstances, can be stopped with careful planning and infrastructure, utilizing filters and common sense.

Why you should use a Tank Float System?

Due to the bottom of the tank holding a different level of water quality, It would be recommended to use a Tank Float which is a tube connected to the inside of a tank so the drinking water near the top is taken from the tank and not the bottom. This has been proven to bring water in to the pump that is cleaner and also more oxygen rich. Obviously when water harvesting a pump will be needed to send the water to your house so we do not want the get the pump full of any dust or contamination as the pump will not last as long as it should.

Why it is recommended to use a filtration system?

A filtration system is also important if you are going to drink the rainwater, this will definitely clean out any microorganisms or contaminants in the water before drinking it. It is also preferred to not install filtration systems to copper piping which is used in many places as copper pipes can tend to release and have that coppery taste. It is also know that to much copper in the body is toxic and can cause psychological & physical problems with the body.
